AC MUST WORK HARD

The former AC Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso has said that AC Milan should work extremely hard if they are to regain the title from the hands of Juventus this season. Gennaro Gattuso recently left the club after nine years of service at the San Siro.

It is unsure whether the former Rangers midfielder will continue playing professional football after being diagnosed with a serious eye problem. Yet, the former Rangers midfielder has kept abreast with the changes at the San Siro. AC Milan have recently lost defender Thiago Silva to French club PSG, while the imminent departure of Zlatan Ibrahimovic to the French club PSG is expected to compound the problems.

Even though the club will receive around £ 50 million for both players, it is expected that the club will not spend a lot of the money in order to balance the books. AC Milan have come under severe financial stress in recent seasons due to the lack of progress made by the club in the Champions League. The seven time European champions have not reached the final of the competition since they last won it back in 2007. A number of high profile players like Gennaro Gattuso and Alessandro Nesta have already left the club after their contracts expired last season.

“Milan’s aim for next season could be to fight and imitate Juve last year. It was a team built around two champions in Gigi Buffon and Andrea Pirlo – and then you had the others who fought so hard that they vomited. You can see that boss Antonio Conte is behind them. Conte loves football and he was like a cat stuck to your balls as a player. When we faced Juve, everybody was talking about Edgar Davids, but it was Conte who kept on running and who never gave up," said Gattuso.
