JUVE STILL CONFIDENT

The Juventus general director Giuseppe Marotta has said that he is extremely confident that the team can retain the Italian Serie A title this season due to the fact that they have the winning mentality.

He has said that the winning mentality has also become natural for the team after having an unbeaten run that stretched to almost 50 games before it finally came to an end at the hands of Inter Milan recently. Juventus were unbeaten last season, as they managed to win the title in great fashion. However, they have already been defeated twice in the league this season – at the hands of both the Milan clubs.

This has allowed the likes of Napoli, Lazio, and Inter Milan close the gap to the current champions. Even though they have suffered these defeats, they still remain top of the table. However, their lead could have been significantly better had they not been beaten in these matches. At this time, many are doubting the possibility of Juventus retaining the title because they have only a four point advantage over the likes of Inter Milan, while the gap is even less to the teams like Napoli and Lazio. Giuseppe Marotta thinks that the team has a winning mentality that will make them successful this season as well.

"The title race is open and it's our duty to believe we can do it. We've got respect for everyone, but Juve must look to win, it's in our DNA. Last year we won the championship with our never-say-die attitude. From there we’ve continued our positive run and we're still top of the league as it stands. The Champions League is an important competition. We have the desire to go through to the knockout stages, but there's still a way to go," said the general director of Juventus.
