Juventus Looking Into Summer Move For Hector Bellerin

Serie A holders Juventus are reportedly looking to reignite their pursuit of long-term target and Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin in the summer. The Spain international only penned a new contract with the Gunners back in November 2016, but he is weighing up his options after another poor Premier League season for the north London club.

According to The Guardian, the 22-year-old is disappointed by the club’s regression over the past 18 months, and he is now seemingly prepared to push through a summer move. Bellerin was once regarded as one of the finest right-backs in the Premier League, and he happened to make the PFA Team of the Year during the 2015/16 season.

However, he followed to sustain an ankle problem in the season which followed, and he has since struggled to find the consistency in his gameplay despite being the undisputed first-choice in the right-back spot. As per the report, the Bianconeri could retain their interest in the player’s services in the summer after having missed on his signature in the past two years.

The report adds that the right-back won’t come on the cheap for the Italian champions with a minimum bid of at least £45m required in order to convince the Gunners into a potential sale. Arsene Wenger’s side don’t have any ready-made replacements in their squad, and they are likely to invest any sum acquired from Bellerin, should he make the move.

Juventus have been largely dependent on Mattia De Sciglio and Stephan Lichtsteiner to perform the duties on the right side of the backline, but they appear likely to lose the services of the latter, whose contract is due to expire in another three months’ time. Bellerin may not be an instant solution at right-back, but the former La Masia graduate has the potential to transform into a top-class recruit for Max Allegri’s side.
