Juventus remain on course for a famous treble after they reached the final of the Coppa Italia by beating Fiorentina 3-0 away from home.
This was a convincing performance from the Italian Serie A leaders, who are also in the running for the Champions League title this campaign. Juventus are almost certain to retain the league title after building a 14 point advantage in the league. Their closest rivals Roma have already given up hope of a league success.
Massimiliano Allegri had a big shoes to fill when he came as a replacement for Antonio Conte, but the former AC Milan manager has integrated himself seamlessly into the club.
A 2-1 loss in the first leg threatened to disrupt Juventus’ chances of reaching the final of the Coppa Italia. However, they came back in spectacular fashion and it did not take long for them to equalise the tie on aggregate. Matri’s goal in the 21st minute eased the tension amongst Juventus supporters while Pereyra scored just before half-time to put the team ahead on aggregate. Bonucci goal just before the hour mark confirmed the victory for Juventus. Even though the celebrations were slightly marred by the red card to Álvaro Morata, it was a memorable day for the Turin-based club nonetheless.
"I thought the team interpreted this game very well. It's by no means easy to win away to a Fiorentina side who have been playing great football.I am delighted with what my players did. It's a big achievement to overturn a difficult result. To win in Florence and not concede a goal is not easy. We played a balanced game, showing good technique and great personality. We deserved to go through. I'm very satisfied with this performance. We had many top players out injured but those that came out on the pitch did a great job," said Allegri.
