LIPPI IS REALISTIC

The former Italian and Juventus manager Marcello Lippi has said that he is very realistic about the chances of Juventus winning the European title this season, even if they manage to sign long-term tagert Luis Suarez. The former Juventus manager has praised the side for being able to go undefeated throughout the entire season and win the Italian championship.

This was the major first title for Juventus since 2003 and it was made sweet by the fact that this was the first since the match fixing scandal broke out six years ago. Thus, Juventus have completed a total rejuvenation and are now looking to dominate Europe once again.

However, the former Italian national team manager has said that it will be very difficult for Juventus win the title this season because there are many good teams around them.

The likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid will certainly be the favourites for the Champions League title according to Marcello Lippi. Juventus have acknowledged the need to strengthen the team in order to challenge for the Champions League title. As a result, they have been extremely active in the transfer window so far, but Marcello Lippi reckons that it will take more than the arrival of some good players in this transfer window to win the European title.

“What goals do Juve have in the Champions League? To have fun and be ambitious. The team is competitive, the new signings are very strong, [Gianluigi] Buffon and [Andrea] Pirlo are of great class. Then, the draw in the Champions League can be decisive, the encounters, at what time you meet each opponent. If Barcelona or Real Madrid are only to be met in the semi-final or final then it means that in the meantime you have a certain path to undertake and to grow up on,” said the former Juventus manager.
